Dreams FC head coach Abdul Karim Zito has attributed his team’s 2-1 defeat to Asante Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League to his players’ excessive respect for their opponents.
The match, played at the Tuba Astro Turf on Sunday as part of matchday 14, saw the Porcupine Warriors secure a hard-fought victory over the Still Believe lads. Kotoko dominated the first half, scoring two quick goals in the 40th and 43rd minutes. Dreams FC managed to respond with a goal in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to salvage a point.
Speaking after the game, Coach Zito highlighted how his players’ attitude toward the opposition impacted their performance.
“My players had respect for Kotoko,” he said. “After the first half, I talked to them, and things changed. We had chances, but I just can’t believe why my players couldn’t shoot.”
The defeat compounds a challenging season for Dreams FC, who are struggling in the league and currently sit in 17th place with just 12 points, firmly in the relegation zone.
Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko’s victory strengthens their position in the league. The Porcupine Warriors now sit in 5th place with 24 points after 14 matches, maintaining their push for a strong finish in the campaign.
