FC Lorient’s Ghanaian defender, Nathaniel Adjei, expresses his joy at receiving his inaugural senior call-up to the Ghana national team.
The 21-year-old center-back has earned a spot in Otto Addo’s squad for the upcoming friendly matches against Nigeria and Uganda during the March international break.
Adjei, known for his versatility and adeptness in various defensive positions, has showcased consistency in his performances, particularly during his stint at Hammarby in the Swedish league before making the move to Lorient in Ligue 1 in January.
In an interview with 3 Sports, the 2021 U20 Africa Cup of Nations champion shares his excitement about the opportunity to represent the Black Stars, stating, “I have been working hard, and I am pleased.”
“I’ve always been looking forward to that adventure. As a young player, you need to work harder to reach higher heights. I have been working hard and I am pleased.”
Ghana is poised to take on Nigeria on March 22, followed by a match against Uganda four days later in Morocco. Adjei, hopeful of making his debut in these fixtures, aims to impress the technical team and secure future call-ups for national duty.
