The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has announced two highly anticipated international friendlies for the Super Eagles against Ghana’s Black Stars and Mali’s Les Aigles.
Originally scheduled to face Argentina and El Salvador in the USA, logistical challenges prompted a change of plans, leading to the revival of age-old rivalries with Ghana and Mali. These matches will take place in Marrakech, Morocco, on Friday, March 22nd, and Tuesday, March 26th, respectively.
The clash with Ghana holds significant historical importance, spanning 73 years of intense competition. Their last encounter in March 2022 ended in a tightly contested draw during a FIFA World Cup play-off.
As Nigeria prepares for these challenging fixtures, they have released a formidable 26-man squad. Led by seasoned players like Wilfred Ndidi, Victor Osimhen, and Alex Iwobi, the Super Eagles boast a blend of experience and emerging talent.
The return of key figures like Jamilu Collins and Tyronne Ebuehi, alongside promising newcomers Gabriel Osho and Benjamin Tianimu, further strengthens the team’s depth.

Both Nigeria and Ghana aim to use these friendlies as crucial preparation for upcoming international windows, including the start of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers and the resumption of the 2026 World Cup qualifications.
