Ghana Premier League powerhouse, Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC have officially confirmed the extension of captain, Ismail Abdul Ganiyu’s contract till 2023.
The Ghanaian international centre-back Ismail Abdul Ganiyu has signed a new two-year contract with the Red and Whites, keeping him at the club until 2023.
His contract with the Porcupine Warriors was due but both parties agreed to prolong their marriage for another two years ahead of the 2021-22 season in Ghana.
Ganiyu had his breakthrough season at Kotoko and earned a Black Stars call-up by former head coach CK Akonnor for both AFCON and Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
He was the second deputy captain for the club and with the departure of both captain’s, Felix Annan and Emmanuel Gyamfi, he’s expected to lead the club when the season starts late this month.
