Black Stars striker Jordan Ayew has completed a move from Crystal Palace to Leicester City, continuing his Premier League journey.
The 31-year-old forward has signed a two-year deal with the Foxes, pending FA and Premier League approval.
“Leicester City Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of experienced striker Jordan Ayew from Crystal Palace on a two-year-deal,” the club announced on its official website.
Ayew, who was a crucial player for Crystal Palace, initially joined the Eagles on loan in August 2018 before securing a permanent move in July 2019. During his tenure at Selhurst Park, he made 212 appearances, scored 23 goals, and provided 22 assists across all competitions.
However, under new Palace manager Oliver Glasner, Ayew’s role had diminished, with his most recent appearance being as a substitute in a 2-1 defeat to Brentford.
Expressing his excitement about the move, Ayew said, “I’m very happy to be here and I’m proud. I want to thank the club as they fought hard to bring me here – it happened quickly, and I’m so happy to be here.”
Leicester City, who won the Championship last season to secure their return to the Premier League after a two-season absence, is aiming to make a significant impact in the top flight. The club recently appointed Steve Cooper as their new manager following the departure of Enzo Maresca to Chelsea. Cooper previously worked with Ayew during their time at Swansea City, adding a familiar dynamic to the squad.
Ayew will also have the chance to team up with fellow Ghanaian international Fatawu Issahaku, who made a permanent move to Leicester from Sporting CP after a successful loan spell last season.
Ayew is set to join his new teammates ahead of Leicester City’s upcoming Premier League match against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday, August 24.
