Ghana international Joseph Paintsil has shared his excitement after helping LA Galaxy to secure victory over Guadalajara in the Leagues Cup.
Paintsil was called to action when the Major League Soccer outfit locked horns with the Mexican club. The Black Stars attacker registered his name on the scoresheet as his outfit managed to secure victory on penalties.
“On to the next step in the league’s cup. This is for you G’s” he wrote on Instagram.
The home team (Guadalajara) opened the scoring after just eight minutes, but LA Galaxy responded quickly with an equalizer in the 11th minute through Paintsil.
In a thrilling encounter, both teams went to the halftime break with a goal apiece. After recess, Gabriel Pec found the back of the net in the 67th minute to extend LA Galaxy’s lead in the game.
The American club were close to snatching victory in regular time, but Guadalajara left it late to level pegging in the highly competitive clash. Cade Cowell fired home the needed equalizer one minute into additional time to force the game to penalties.
However, LA Galaxy emerged as winners over Guadalajara in the penalties, winning 5-4. Paintsil’s contribution to the game was crucial, and his excitement was evident on social media.
