Nana Oduro Sarfo, a member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council, has expressed confidence in Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, praising his efforts in guiding the team toward qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Currently, the Black Stars are tied at the top of Group I in the World Cup qualifiers with Comoros, both on nine points. However, Addo’s tenure has been clouded by the team’s inability to secure a spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Despite the AFCON disappointment, Sarfo believes Addo is on the right track and capable of leading Ghana to another World Cup, following his success in securing qualification for the 2022 tournament in Qatar.
“Otto Addo is handling two tasks. In the World Cup qualifiers, his team is in a strong position. He is close to qualifying, though he couldn’t succeed in the AFCON qualification,” Sarfo stated in an interview with Asempa FM. “What proves he isn’t doing a good job?”
Ghana’s next World Cup qualifying matches are scheduled for March 2025, where they will face Chad and Madagascar. With the support of the GFA and fans, Addo will aim to solidify Ghana’s position in the race to secure a World Cup berth.
