Asante Kotoko head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum has admitted that his team should have secured a more comfortable victory over rivals Accra Hearts of Oak, despite clinching a 1-0 win at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Speaking in his post-match press conference, Ogum acknowledged that while the win was crucial, the team should not have left it until the 95th minute to seal the victory. Striker Albert Amoah scored the dramatic winner in stoppage time, ensuring Kotoko’s fourth consecutive victory over Hearts.
“Absolutely, there is a lot of work to do. It’s something we must admit as a coach. As a coach, I have to admit. If you look at the chances we created, we shouldn’t have gotten to 90+5 before scoring, we should have finished this game in the first half,” Ogum said.
The win pushed Kotoko into sixth place in the league standings, where they are now tied on 21 points with fifth-placed Medeama SC.
