The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to dissolve the entire backroom staff of the Black Stars, Ghanasoccernet.com reports.
This move follows the senior national team’s failure to secure a spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) for the first time in two decades. Under the leadership of Otto Addo, Ghana finished bottom of Group F in the qualifiers, recording three wins and three draws from six matches.
In the wake of this disappointing result, the future of the technical team remains uncertain, and the GFA is yet to make a final decision. Last month, a lengthy meeting was held to review Otto Addo’s technical reports following the team’s poor performances during the qualification campaign.
A statement from the GFA revealed that external consultations will be conducted before determining Addo’s future, with the coach having signed a three-year contract in March 2024.
However, sources close to the situation suggest that the Black Stars’ backroom staff will be dissolved.
Looking ahead, the Black Stars will focus on improving their performances as the 2026 World Cup qualifiers resume next year. Ghana will face Chad and Madagascar in Matchdays 5 and 6 of the qualifiers. After four games, Ghana sits second in Group I, tied on nine points with Comoros.
