Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has advised his players to prioritize their own game rather than overly focusing on rivals Hearts of Oak ahead of their Super Clash on Sunday, December 15.
The Reds will host the Phobians at the Baba Yara Stadium in a Matchday 13 fixture of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.
Kotoko heads into the clash with just one win in their last six games, while Hearts of Oak remain unbeaten in their previous six outings. Despite these contrasting forms, Ogum emphasized the importance of his team concentrating on their own preparations and approach.
“The focus should be on us. Sometimes when you focus too much on the opponent, you forget about yourself, and it affects your performance,” Ogum told the club’s media team.
“Our priority is to ensure we get our tactics right, build our confidence, maintain determination, and show the necessary aggression. When we have everything in place, we’ll face them.”
The highly anticipated showdown, often regarded as the biggest rivalry in Ghanaian football, is set to kick off at 3:00 PM GMT at the iconic Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Both teams will be looking to secure all three points to boost their standings and maintain momentum in the ongoing campaign.
