Laryea Kingston, the former Ghanaian midfielder, has showered praise on Ratomir Dujkovic, attributing the creation of the best dressing room atmosphere to the Serbian coach during his tenure with the Black Stars.
In Kingston’s extensive career, which saw him playing under the guidance of various coaches such as Claude Le Roy, Sellas Tetteh, and Milovan Rajevac, it is Dujkovic’s unique qualities that stand out.
According to Kingston, Dujkovic’s remarkable sense of humour and his ability to establish strong connections with the players set him apart from the rest.
Reflecting on the camaraderie, Kingston expressed, “I would say Duja (Ratomir Dujkovic) had the best dressing room atmosphere because of his sense of humour. The relationship we (players) had with him was amazing. He was also lucky to have a lot of quality players. Players that understood each other and bought into his idea quickly,” as revealed in an interview with Sienu TV.
Dujkovic’s impact on Ghanaian football history is notable, particularly as he steered the national team to its maiden World Cup qualification.
Despite Kingston’s absence from the tournament in Germany due to suspension, he remains deeply appreciative of the opportunity to be under the guidance of Dujkovic, whom he hails as a tactical genius.
“Dujakovic tactically is good. He understood the players he had and put them in the position according to their strength,” Kingston added, shedding light on Dujkovic’s strategic prowess in managing the team.
Kingston’s remarks not only acknowledge Dujkovic’s tactical acumen but also underscore the positive influence he wielded over the Black Stars during his coaching tenure.
The coach’s adeptness at fostering team cohesion and extracting the best from his players played a pivotal role in the team’s historic success, creating a lasting legacy that is warmly remembered by those fortunate enough to have played under his guidance.
