England is set to host Ghana, Nigeria, and Jamaica in a four-nation tournament during the June international break, providing the Black Stars with another crucial test as they continue their rebuilding process.

Dr. Randy Abbey, Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, confirmed Ghana’s participation in the high-profile friendly tournament, which comes at a time when there are no World Cup qualifiers scheduled.

Opportunity for Squad Development

Speaking to 3Sports, Randy Abbey emphasized the significance of the tournament for Ghana’s preparations ahead of the next round of competitive fixtures.

“Fortunately, the technical team and management will have the opportunity to further work on the team because, in June, we don’t have qualifiers. So, we will be playing a four-nation friendly in England,” he stated.

He also expressed hope that key players currently sidelined due to injuries would return in time to feature in the matches.

“We are hoping that some of the players who are injured will also be back and will be able to get an opportunity to play at least two games before the September matches,” Abbey added.

Black Stars in Strong Position but Must Stay Focused

Ghana heads into the June break on a high after securing back-to-back victories against Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Those wins propelled the Black Stars to the top of Group I, boosting their chances of securing a place at the tournament.

Despite this strong position, head coach Otto Addo has urged his players to remain focused, warning that qualification is far from guaranteed.

“We are in a good position [to qualify for the 2026 World Cup], but this is also dangerous,” Addo said.

“Now, I am thinking about how to keep our heads focused [because] the job is really not done.

“Maybe if Comoros wins, it’s just a three-point gap ahead of Comoros, and it’s still a long way to go. We have to stay focused. If anyone thinks we are through, then he’s making a big mistake.”

The four-nation tournament in England will offer Ghana a chance to test its squad against strong opposition while refining its strategies ahead of the September qualifiers.
