The Public Relations Officer of Bechem United, Emmanuel Atuahene, has revealed the transfer fee for Hafiz Konkoni after his move to Tanzanian giants Young Africans.
The talented Black Stars attacker completed his transfer to the Tanzanian champions over the weekend, signing a two-year contract with the option for another year.
In an interview with Akoma FM, the PRO disclosed that Young Africans paid a sum of $100,000 to secure the services of their star player, Hafiz Konkoni.
Initially, Konkoni was set to join Al Hilal in Sudan, but due to issues with personal terms, the deal did not materialize, and he returned to Ghana. However, the Tanzanian club, Yanga, expressed interest in him and were willing to meet Bechem United’s demands.
Emmanuel Atuahene further confirmed that Hafiz was sold for $100,000, with Bechem United also entitled to a 20% onward transfer fee. He explained that despite interest from Hearts of Oak, a Ghanaian club, they could not match the offer presented by Yanga, as it was only 10% of what the Tanzanian club offered.
Hafiz Konkoni has been a consistent and influential player in the Ghana Premier League since joining Bechem United, tallying an impressive 34 goals in 97 appearances across four seasons. His exceptional performance in the 2022-23 campaign, where he netted 15 goals in 29 matches, earned him a call-up to the Ghana national team for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar in June.
Young Africans, also known as Yanga, will be competing in the CAF Champions League in the upcoming season and have strengthened their squad with foreign players, including the talented Hafiz Konkoni. Yanga reached the finals of the CAF Confederation Cup last season but unfortunately lost to Algerian side USM Alger.
