Hearts of Oak legend Mohammed Polo has called for the immediate dismissal of head coach Aboubakar Ouattara following the team’s unexpected 1-0 defeat to newly promoted Basake Holy Stars in the Ghana Premier League opener.
The loss at the Accra Sports Stadium has sparked doubts about Hearts of Oak’s preparedness for the season ahead.
Polo, a highly respected figure in the club’s history, voiced his concerns about Ouattara’s leadership. In an interview with Bryt FM, he criticized the coach for not showing a strong commitment to winning the league title, something he believes is crucial for a club of Hearts of Oak’s stature.
“Aboubakar Ouattara cannot help Hearts of Oak because he lacks control and the spirit to lead the club,” Polo remarked. “He nearly took the team to relegation last season. He deserves to be sacked for not being able to promise the Premier League title this season.”
The former Black Stars star, who is worried about Ouattara’s capabilities after the team’s close brush with relegation last season, insists that Hearts of Oak needs more decisive leadership to succeed.
As the Phobians prepare for their next match against Heart of Lions in Kpando, the pressure on Ouattara to reverse the team’s fortunes is mounting.
