Senegal forward Sadio Mane is set to miss the 2022 FIFA World Cup after suffering an injury on Tuesday.
The winger came off in the 20th minute of Bayern Munich’s 6-1 win over Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga.
The injury comes 12 days prior to the Teranga Lions taking to the field at the Mundial for their first game.
“He’ll have to have an X-ray to see what’s happened,” said Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann.
“He took a blow to his tibial plateau [the head of the shin]. It’s a painful spot.”
The star player for Senegal, according to French daily L’Equipe, won’t be there for the World Cup being held in Qatar.
According to reports, the former Liverpool star has a tendon injury and will be out for a number of weeks.
On Friday, Senegal coach Aliou Cissé is expected to reveal the roster of players who will travel to Qatar.
