Despite being deemed surplus to requirements, Asante Kotoko striker Solomon Sarfo Taylor is determined to remain with the club and fight for his position, as reported by Kumasi-based Kessben FM.
Sarfo Taylor still has one year left on his contract with Asante Kotoko, even though he has been advised to leave the team. Despite this, the media outlet from Kumasi states that Solomon Sarfo Taylor is resolute in his decision to stay and compete for a spot in the squad.
The former Karela United forward joined Asante Kotoko in March 2021, signing a three-year deal. While his performances have not fully met expectations since joining the club, he displayed an improvement in his goal-scoring form towards the end of the previous season.
In twelve games for the Porcupines last season, Taylor netted three goals and registered two assists to help the Reds finish fourth on the log.
Sarfo Taylor believes that he can maintain this positive momentum into the upcoming season if given the opportunity, hence his determination to remain at the club.
However, Sarfo Taylor will face intensified competition for a place in the Asante Kotoko lineup for the next season. This is due to the arrival of Kalo Quattara from Berekum Chelsea, as well as the presence of Georges Mfegue and Steven Mukwala Dese in the club’s attacking options.
As of now, Sarfo Taylor is not part of the Asante Kotoko squad currently undergoing pre-season preparations in Beposo, located in the Ashanti Region.
In other news, Asante Kotoko has officially announced the departure of Mohammed Alhassan, Dickson Afoakwa, Samuel Boateng, and Charles Owusu to make room for incoming players. The team has also severed ties with young winger Joseph Amoako, who was suspended due to a dispute with a club supporter on Facebook.
