Tanzanian club Simba Queens have officially confirmed the appointment of experienced Ghanaian coach Yussif Basigi as their new head coach.
Basigi departs Hasaacas Ladies after an impressive 21-year tenure, during which he played a crucial role in the club’s formation and success. He was instrumental in the establishment of Hasaacas Ladies in 2003 and rose through the ranks to become the head coach, where he oversaw a period of dominance in Ghanaian women’s football.
During his time in charge, Hasaacas Ladies won four Ghana Women’s Premier League titles, solidifying their place as one of the top teams in the country. One of his most notable achievements came in 2021 when he led the team to victory in the CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU Zone B Qualifiers. That same year, he guided Hasaacas Ladies to the final of the inaugural CAF Women’s Champions League, further cementing the club’s reputation on the African stage.
Basigi’s departure marks the end of an era for Hasaacas Ladies, but his legacy at the club remains strong. As he embarks on this new journey with Simba Queens, Basigi will aim to replicate his success in Tanzanian football.
For both Basigi and Simba Queens, this partnership represents a new chapter filled with opportunities for growth and further success in African women’s football.
