On 18th June 2005 the Black Stars of Ghana produced one of the biggest away performances the national team has ever recorded by defeating South Africa two goals to nothing in a crucial FIFA World Cup qualifier.
Mattew Amoah in the 59th minute gave Ghana an important breakthrough before Chelsea star Michael Essien killed the game in the 90th minute.
This victory at the FNB stadium in Johannesburg put the Black Stars in a strong position to qualify for their first ever FIFA World Cup in Germany 2006.
Ghana failed to qualify for the last global tournament in Russia 2018 and to prevent a successive disappointment the Black Stars need to produce a miracle.
