Malmö FF have secured the signing of promising Ghanaian winger Isaac Assibu from the renowned WAFA Academy, further strengthening their link with the West African talent hub.
The 18-year-old arrives in Sweden as part of the club’s long-term development strategy and will initially be integrated into Malmö’s P19 squad as he adapts to European football.
Born on January 14, 2008, Assibu is widely regarded as a quick and versatile wide player, capable of operating on either flank. His pace, direct running, and ability to stretch defenses have made him a standout prospect, particularly in transition play.
His move follows Malmö’s earlier acquisition of Yassin Mohammed from WAFA, highlighting the growing relationship between the two institutions.
At youth level, Assibu is expected to compete for places alongside Emilijan Andersson, Alexander Ingi Arnarsson, and Elliot Uddenäs, as he gradually adapts to the demands of his new environment.
Malmö’s sporting director, Daniel Andersson, revealed that the club had monitored the winger for some time and credited their strong ties with WAFA for making the transfer possible.
“We have followed Isaac for quite a long time and thanks to good contact with WAFA Academy, he can now take the step to us. Isaac is an explosive and skilled winger with great potential, but first and foremost it is important to give him time to adapt and settle in,” he said.
Assibu’s move marks another important step in his development, as he begins his European journey with ambitions of progressing through the ranks at Malmö FF.
