Jeremie Frimpong, the Dutch defender of Ghanaian descent making waves in the German Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen, has reiterated his desire to join English Premier League side Liverpool amid growing interest from top clubs across Europe.

Frimpong’s stellar performances this season have caught the attention of clubs like Manchester United and Real Madrid, but it’s Liverpool that holds a special allure for the talented right-back.

In the current Bundesliga campaign, Frimpong has made 21 appearances for Leverkusen, notching seven goals and providing six assists, showcasing his versatility and impact on the field.

The former Celtic star’s standout displays have played a pivotal role in Leverkusen’s success, with the club currently leading the Bundesliga table with 58 points, eight ahead of reigning champions Bayern Munich.

Liverpool, on the hunt for a new manager following Jurgen Klopp’s impending departure, are reportedly eyeing Leverkusen’s coach, Xabi Alonso, as a potential successor. Frimpong, it seems, would be keen to follow his mentor to Anfield.

In an interview with Ziggo Sport, Frimpong expressed his admiration for Liverpool, highlighting the club’s rich history and prestigious status in European football.

“A great club, with history. That would be great. Who knows what the future will bring?” Frimpong remarked, hinting at his openness to a potential move to Liverpool.

Frimpong’s journey from Manchester City’s academy to Leverkusen via Celtic has been marked by steady progress and standout performances, establishing him as one of Europe’s most exciting young right-backs under Alonso’s guidance.
