President of the National Paralympic Committee, Samson Deen, has applauded the efforts of Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif in ensuring the growth of Paralympic sports in Ghana.
According to Deen, Ussif was key to the Amputee football team’s recent successes on the continent as well as the increasing growth of para sports in the country.
The amputee football team, the Black Challenge, won the 2024 Amputee Africa Cup of Nations (AAFCON), making it the second consecutive time having also clinched the title in 2021 in Tanzania.
The team paid a courtesy call to the Sports Minister and presented to him the trophies and accolades won in Egypt.
During the visit, Deen eulogised the Minister for his involvement in growing the sport.
“You are aware that due to the issues fighting amputee football in Ghana, the world body could not allow Ghana to participate [in the last World Cup] but you made sure that the ban on Ghana was lifted. We are most grateful to you,” he said during Friday’s visit.
“I would want to use this platform to inform Ghanaians that aside from everything, I have had a very 100% working relationship with the Minister. He has, since the day he entered this ministry, supported the disability family.
“I would want to inform you the media…that the successes of para-sports in Ghana is because the honourable sports minister, Mustapha Ussif is always up to the responsibility and determined to make sure that we chalk successes.”
