Thomas Partey: Arsenal to allow Ghana midfielder leave club in 2025 with no contract extension plans

Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey won’t be offered a contract extension by Arsenal when his current deal expires, according FootballTransfers.

The tabloid reports that the midfielder is expected to depart the club at the end of the 2024/25 season.

With his contract set to expire next summer, Partey, who is currently on £200,000-per-week, will not be presented with a new deal.

By the time his current terms end, the Ghanaian international will be 32 years old and Arsenal have decided to move on without extending his stay.

Partey has been a crucial part of the Gunners’ midfield since joining the club from Atletico Madrid in 2020 for a £45 million (€50m) fee.

However, his time at the Emirates has been marred by a series of injuries that have prevented him from consistently reaching his best form.

Since his arrival, Partey has missed significant portions of each season, suffering from hamstring, thigh and ankle issues among other knocks.

These injuries have limited his impact on the pitch, with the player often struggling to maintain a consistent run of games.

What next for Partey and Arsenal?

Given Arsenal’s reluctance to offer him a new contract, it is widely thought that Partey will look to secure a move to the Saudi Pro League, a destination that has become increasingly popular for European stars seeking a lucrative final contract.

Saudi clubs were already interested in Partey last summer and a move to the Middle East would offer him a substantial pay rise, providing the Ghanaian with a major payday as he enters the twilight of his career.

The transfer would not only benefit the player financially but also allow Arsenal to free up significant wages as they continue their squad rebuild under Mikel Arteta.

As Arsenal prepare for life without Partey, they will undoubtedly be on the lookout for a new midfield enforcer to fill the void left by his departure. The Gunners are closing in on the signing of Mikel Merino but have been unable to secure a new No.6 this window.

Meanwhile, Partey will focus on finishing his Arsenal career on a high, aiming to stay fit and contribute to the club’s objective of winning the Premier League title this season.
