Ghanaian footballer Thomas Partey, who plays for Arsenal, will extend his stay in England for a week to continue his recovery, while the rest of the team travels to the USA for pre-season matches.
Partey has been training with Arsenal for several weeks after returning from a short break in Ghana for the preseason preparations. He recently participated in Arsenal’s 3-3 draw against German club Nurnberg.
However, the Black Stars midfielder will not be joining the team for their tour in the USA due to an injury. Both Partey and Emile Smith Rowe have been left behind to allow them sufficient time to fully recover before rejoining their teammates in North America.
Arsenal’s tour in the USA includes a match against the MLS All-Stars team at Audi Field in Washington D.C. on Wednesday, July 19. They will also face Manchester United at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Saturday, July 22, followed by a game against Barcelona on Wednesday, July 26 at SoFi Stadium.
The decision to keep Partey and Smith Rowe in England highlights Arsenal’s focus on player welfare and ensuring they are in peak condition before returning to competitive action.
