Black Stars captain Thomas Partey is optimistic that the current talent within Ghana’s squad could attract more players of Ghanaian descent from Europe to join the national team.
Speaking ahead of Ghana’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, Partey highlighted the quality of the squad and expressed confidence that the team’s performance could entice more European-born players with Ghanaian heritage to represent the West African nation.
Ghana will kick off their AFCON qualifying campaign against Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium before traveling to Morocco to face Niger in their second Group F match in Berkane.
“I believe in all the players that have come to the team. They are young with quality, and I think what they need is our support and the support of every Ghanaian,” Partey told SuperSport. “Whoever wears the jersey, we have to give him the best of support because I know and I see it from training. I am really sure it is going to be massive for the country and it is going to bring more players who are willing to play for Ghana.”
The match against Angola is set to kick off at 16:00 GMT.
