Samuel Eto’o, the President of the Cameroon Football Federation, has engaged in a heated exchange with the new head coach of the Indomitable Lions, Marc Brys.
Videos circulating on social media show Eto’o and the Belgian coach clashing during a meeting at the federation’s headquarters, ahead of two crucial World Cup qualifiers in June. According to France 24, the altercation occurred after Eto’o and the federation invited Brys to a ‘working session’ to prepare for Cameroon’s upcoming games against Cape Verde and Angola.
In the video, a visibly angry Eto’o can be heard admonishing Coach Brys: “I’m the president; you don’t talk to me like that. Do you think I can do this in Belgium? So how do you think you can do this in Cameroon?”
The incident is rooted in the contentious appointment of Brys by the government, a decision that Eto’o and his administration opposed. Reports indicate that Eto’o had also ordered the removal of a government official from the building prior to the meeting.
Cameroon is set to play two World Cup 2026 qualifiers in June, hosting the Cape Verde Islands on June 8 and traveling to Angola three days later. The Indomitable Lions currently top Group D on goal difference, ahead of Cape Verde and Libya, with four points from two games.
