Moroccan tactician Walid Regragui is said to have turned down opportunity taking over the vacant Black Stars coaching role, despite being heavily linked with the position in recent days.
The job became available following the dismissal of Otto Addo after Ghana’s disappointing performances in the March international window, where the team suffered defeats to Austria and Germany.
Since then, several high-profile names including two-time AFCON winner Hervé Renard, Kwesi Appiah, Tom Saintfiet and Walid Regragui have all been linked to the role as the Ghana Football Association searches for a new head coach.
However, the latest reports indicate that the Moroccan tactician is not keen on landing the Ghana job and is instead attracting interest from Saudi Arabia.
Regragui remains one of the most respected coaches on the continent, having led Morocco to a historic semi-final finish at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, while also guiding them to success at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana will open their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 18, before facing England and Croatia in what promises to be a challenging Group L fixtures.
