Asante Kotoko midfielder Baba Yahaya has emphasized that his team will not rely on individual players to succeed in the upcoming Ghana Premier League campaign.
The Porcupine Warriors have been busy rebuilding their squad after a disappointing finish in sixth place last season, where Samartex emerged as champions. The club has parted ways with over 20 players and has recruited 12 new additions ahead of the new season.
Speaking to the media, Yahaya said that the team is focused on building an all-round team that can compete against the best in the league.
“We are building an all-round team for next season. We are not going to rely on individual players. We don’t have to depend on one particular striker. We are not building the team on one particular person. We should all be able to score when the going gets tough,” he said.
Kotoko are currently preparing for the new season, having already made two wins in their preseason friendly games. The team will face Medeama on Friday as part of the inauguration of the newly built TNA Park in Tarkwa.
The Porcupine Warriors will begin their Premier League campaign against Karela United, and Yahaya’s message of a team-based approach will be put to the test in the upcoming season.
