Medeama Sporting Club head coach, Nebojsa Kapor, expressed his satisfaction after his team secured a 1-0 victory over Accra Lions in their 2024-2025 Ghana Premier League season opener.
The match, held at the TNA Stadium in Tarkwa, marked Medeama’s first win of the new season.
Bernardinho Tetteh scored the decisive goal for Medeama in the 56th minute with a penalty kick, securing the three points. Accra Lions, who finished second in the standings last season, proved to be a formidable opponent, exceeding expectations with their performance.
In his post-match comments, Kapor praised his players and acknowledged the challenges of the first game of the season.
“Congratulations to my players because they truly deserved this victory,” Kapor said. “Winning the first game of the season is always difficult due to various factors—preseason preparations, the pressure of home matches, and so on. It’s a normal part of football, and I’m really happy that we came out on top. The game was tough, as we expected, especially against a team that plays very good football with young players.”
Medeama, who won the league title in the 2022-2023 season, had a disappointing eighth-place finish last year and will be looking to build on this win to improve their standing in the current campaign.
