Stade Rennais Technical Director Florian Maurice has shared that the club had been keeping a close eye on Ghanaian defender Alidu Seidu for quite some time before officially bringing him on board.

The versatile 23-year-old recently switched from fellow Ligue 1 team Clermont Foot, and the transfer is valued at around €11 million. After completing necessary health checks following his return from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where he had limited playing time, Seidu committed to a four-year contract, securing his association with Stade Rennais until 2028.

Florian Maurice, expressing his thoughts on the transfer, was effusive in his praise for Alidu Seidu. He highlighted Seidu’s consistent performances at Clermont, emphasizing his remarkable mentality and strong leadership qualities. According to Maurice, Seidu quickly adjusted to the challenges of Ligue 1 and stands out as one of the best in his position.

In his statement to the club’s official website, Maurice conveyed his optimism about Seidu’s potential impact, stating, “We always hope that things work out when we recruit, but in any case, he has what it takes to become a successful player for Stade Rennais.” This statement reflects Maurice’s confidence in Seidu’s abilities and foresees a successful journey for the player at Stade Rennais.

With this endorsement from the Technical Director, Alidu Seidu steps into his new role at Stade Rennais with a sense of recognition and high expectations. Maurice’s acknowledgment of Seidu’s mentality, leadership, and quick adaptation positions him as a valuable addition to the team. The four-year contract signifies a long-term commitment, indicating the club’s belief in Seidu’s potential to contribute significantly to Stade Rennais’ success.

As Seidu integrates into the Stade Rennais squad, fans eagerly anticipate witnessing the positive impact of this strategic signing on the team’s defensive capabilities. The club’s proactive approach to recruitment, as highlighted by Maurice, adds an element of optimism for the future, creating a sense of anticipation and excitement among supporters.
