Ghanaian defender Alidu Seidu has made a significant move to Stade Rennais FC, becoming the sixth player from Ghana to join the French Ligue 1 side. The accomplished full-back finalized his transfer on Monday, January 29, and was formally introduced by the club.
To fortify FC Stade Rennais, Seidu committed to a four-year contract, aiming to contribute his skills to the team’s success. Notably, he follows in the footsteps of five other Ghanaian footballers who have previously represented Stade Rennais: John Mensah, Asamoah Gyan, John Boye, Kamal Issah, and Kamaldeen Sulemana.
Echoing the aspirations of his compatriots, Alidu Seidu is optimistic about achieving success with the esteemed French club. Expressing his enthusiasm, he shared, “Stade Rennais is a great club and it’s a great privilege for me. I had a great time at Clermont, they gave me everything and welcomed me like a member of the family. I became a man there, and the adventure continues at Rennes, and I’m very happy about that.”
In his first interview with the club’s media team, Seidu described himself as a determined player who despises losing. He emphasized his commitment to the game, stating, “I’m a fighter, I give everything for my colleagues, and I’m always looking to progress.”
The defender is set to commence training with his new teammates on Tuesday, January 30, eager to contribute to the collective effort of FC Stade Rennais.
