Assistant coach of Sudan, Ignatius Osei-Fosu, has explained why his team couldn’t secure all three points in their match against Ghana during the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Thursday.

The two teams faced off at the Accra Sports Stadium, marking the first of two encounters scheduled for the October international break. In a post-match interview, Coach Osei-Fosu acknowledged that Ghana performed better overall. However, he emphasized that Sudan’s game plan was effective in achieving a solid defensive display.

“The game plan worked for us defensively. We knew it would be challenging, especially with the home fans supporting Ghana. We anticipated that they would come at us aggressively. We were looking for counter-attacks, and while we had two or four opportunities, the final execution was lacking,” Coach Osei-Fosu remarked.

Following the goalless stalemate, Sudan will now shift their focus to the reverse fixture against Ghana, scheduled for Tuesday, October 15.
