Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has acknowledged the tough challenge ahead as Ghana prepares to face Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers next month.
After a disappointing 1-0 loss to Angola in their opening match at the Baba Yara Stadium, the Black Stars hoped to secure their first win against Niger. Ghana initially took the lead with Alidu Seidu’s deflected strike in the 44th minute, but Niger equalized in the 80th minute through Oumar Sako, leaving the match at a 1-1 draw at the Stade Municipal de Berkane.
Reflecting on the upcoming fixtures, Addo commented: “Playing Sudan next will be difficult again. I knew from the start, it’s just some little margins, little details which can decide. This will be again, for us it will be a crucial match. We have to win, there is no way around it, and we have to win. If we want to have the chance to play better after, we have to win. We are under pressure, this is for sure and we have to do better.”
The Black Stars, currently sitting third in Group F, will face Sudan in a critical doubleheader in October.
These upcoming matches are crucial for Ghana as they seek to secure their first win of the qualifiers and improve their position in the group standings.
