Aduana Stars manager Samuel Paa Kwesi was left disappointed by the display of the referee in their FA Cup quarterfinal game against King Faisal on Sunday 9th April, 2023.
Although Aduana started strong and dominated for most of the game, they only managed to score once with Anokye Badu finding the net in the 45th minute.
Five minutes into the second half, King Faisal’s Abdul Latif equalized from the penalty spot after Baba Yahaya was fouled by Bright Enchil.
Aduana Stars continued to push and scored again through Frank Owusu to make it 2-1
King Faisal kept fighting and equalized again in the 78th minute through Benjamin Bature to send the game into extra time.
In the 107th minute, Aduana Stars almost won the game but Abdul Jabaal made a crucial save.
In the penalty shootout, goalkeeper Abdul Jabaal Adam saved two penalties to help King Faisal win 3-1 and secure a place in the semifinals.
Speaking after the game, Fabin attributed his team’s exit from the competition to poor officiating, claiming they were denied clear penalties in regulation time.
He told StarTimes: “I don’t talk about referees. It was very bad but we’ll leave it like that. Before we ended the first half we had a clear penalty. The second half we had two here. All was ignored. But look at the one that was given to King Faisal here. I mean it’s just comedy. I’m telling you.”
King Faisal will now take on Nsoatreman in the semis.
