Real Tamale United (RTU) striker, Owusu Afriyie, has etched his name into the history books as the first player to score in the 2023/2024 Ghana Premier League season.
His late goal secured a 1-0 victory for his team against Hearts of Oak at the Aliu Mahama Stadium.
In a closely contested match, both sides displayed determination, with the home team, RTU, dominating proceedings. The game remained goalless in the first half, with neither team managing to find the back of the net.
After halftime, Hearts of Oak pushed hard for an equalizer, but RTU’s solid defense held firm and proved too resilient to breach.
This match marked the inaugural game of the season and resulted in the first defeat of the season for the Phobians.
