In the CAF Women’s Champions League semi-final two, Sporting Club Casablanca defeated Ampem Darkoa to qualify for the finals on Sunday against Mamelodi Sundowns.

Ampem Darkoa 2-2 Sporting Club Casablanca in 120 minutes of action. Ampem Darkoa lost  2-3 on penalties.

Laurent Poku Stadium was almost filled as nearly all the fans were cheering for Ampem Darkoa. Nanamma had great support as the game almost turned into a party for the fans. San Pedro was great last night for football.

A night full of action as the second semi-finals of the CAF Women’s Champions League will never be forgotten easily.

A 6th minute penalty was scored by Comfort Yeboah which gave the Ghanaians the all-important first goal. The penalty scorer under no pressure calamitously scored an own goal through which Casablanca pulled parity in the 28th.

The dangerous Jennifer Owusua, who was a constant menace down the left gave Casablanca a tough moment. She scored a goal of the tournament contender in the 38th with a beautiful curling of the ball from almost 25 yards. Namamma was leading 2-1 before halftime with the game finely balanced.

Casablanca was awarded a spot-kick and converted it in the 55th minute to make it 2-2 through Agueissa Diara.

No goal was scored again as the game ended 2-2 in 90 minutes. 30 minutes of extra time was played as none of the sides were able to find the back of the net once again.

The penalty shootout was the only way to separate this tense affair as Ampem Darkoa scored two and missed three whereas Casablanca scored three and missed two.

The debutants from Casablanca made history by qualifying for the finals where they will play against South African giants, Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday.

Ampem Darkoa in the bronze medal match will play against ASFAR who they defeated 2-1 in their opening game.

Goals, penalties scored, penalty saves, and an own goal were all witnessed at the Laurent Pokou Stadium in San Pedro.

Nana Adarkwa’s young girls must be positive as players like Comfort Yeboah,  Tracy Twum, Jennifer Owusua, Mabel Amoyaw,  Abena Opoku,  Charlotte Adjei and  Nancy Amoh have exceeded expectations and shown how dangerous they can be in the future considering their ages.
