Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen was crowned the 2023 African Player of the Year on Monday at the prestigious CAF Awards held in Marrakech.

The Napoli star beat out stiff competition from Liverpool‘s Mohamed Salah and Paris Saint-Germain’s Achraf Hakimi to secure the continent’s most coveted individual honour.

A collective sigh of relief echoed across Nigeria as their cherished hero and Napoli’s standout player, Victor Osimhen, ascended to the pinnacle of African football.
