Hearts of Oak coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, reflects on his team’s recent struggles, attributing their poor performance to psychological challenges faced by the players. Despite a difficult period, the Phobians managed to secure a convincing victory over Berekum Chelsea during matchday 29 of the Ghana Premier League, providing a much-needed boost for the team.

Ouattara expresses relief following the positive display by his players and emphasizes the significance of the victory in boosting the team’s confidence as they approach the crucial phase of the season. He acknowledges the psychological hurdles his team had to overcome, stating, “I expected to win. It’s football; we can win by 1-0, 2-0, 3-0 but we needed the points. I told you we had a mental problem. We have some people who want to pollute the minds of the boys…it was a psychology problem,” in his post-match comments.

The opening goal of the match came from Hamza Issah, marking his 12th goal of the campaign and setting the tone for Hearts of Oak’s dominant performance. Linda Mtange and Kassim Cisse added to the tally, securing a comprehensive victory for the Ghanaian giants.

Looking ahead, Hearts of Oak are set to return to action in Accra, where they will face Aduana Stars in their next fixture. With the momentum gained from their recent win, the team aims to continue their positive trajectory and secure favorable results in the upcoming matches.

Ouattara’s assessment of the team’s psychological struggles underscores the importance of mental fortitude in sports. Addressing such challenges and fostering a positive mindset among the players is essential for maintaining consistency and achieving success on the field.

The victory over Berekum Chelsea serves as a testament to the resilience and determination of the Hearts of Oak players, who rallied together to overcome adversity and deliver a commendable performance. It highlights the team’s ability to rise to the occasion and deliver when it matters most.

As the Ghana Premier League season progresses, Hearts of Oak will look to build upon their recent success and maintain their momentum in pursuit of their objectives. With Ouattara’s guidance and the collective effort of the players, they aim to make a significant impact in the league and contend for top honors.

The upcoming match against Aduana Stars presents another opportunity for Hearts of Oak to showcase their capabilities and solidify their position in the league standings. It will require a concerted effort from the entire team to secure a positive result and continue their ascent in the league.
