Leicester City have intensified their pursuit of Ghanaian forward Jordan Ayew, submitting an improved offer as the summer transfer window nears its close.
The Foxes initially offered £4 million for the Crystal Palace striker, but according to English journalist Alan Nixon, they have now returned with an enhanced bid of £6 million.
Leicester’s renewed interest in Ayew is largely driven by manager Steve Cooper, who previously worked with the 32-year-old during their time at Swansea City. The Foxes are looking to strengthen their attack after losing Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho to Sevilla and with Patson Daka sidelined due to injury.
Although Ayew played 20 minutes in Crystal Palace’s 2-1 defeat to Brentford in their season opener, he faces stiff competition for a starting spot at Selhurst Park, with players like Ismaila Sarr, Eberechi Eze, and Matheus Franca ahead of him in the pecking order.
Leicester City are hoping that Ayew’s experience can bolster their squad as they prepare for the challenges of the upcoming 2024-2025 season.
