Forson Amankwah likely to miss Angola and Niger matches in 2025 AFCON Qualifiers due to injury

Ghanaian midfielder Forson Amankwah is expected to miss the Black Stars’ opening matches in the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) due to injury.

Ghana is set to face Angola and Niger in September, with the first match scheduled against Angola on September 5. Although Amankwah was initially selected for the squad, recent developments suggest he may not be available.

During Norwich City’s EFL Cup match against Crystal Palace today, Amankwah suffered a suspected shoulder injury just 13 minutes into the first half. Given the short recovery time before the qualifiers, it is unlikely the young midfielder will be fit to participate.

With Amankwah’s availability now in serious doubt, the Black Stars may have to adjust their plans as they prepare for the crucial AFCON qualifiers.
