Ghana FA refutes claims of meeting between President Okraku and German coach for Black Stars job

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has rejected reports suggesting that President Kurt Okraku met with a German coach regarding the Black Stars, labeling the claims as ‘completely false’ and urging the public to disregard them.

Recent struggles by the Black Stars, coupled with the team’s precarious position in the race for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, have fueled speculation about a possible coaching change for Otto Addo, who has come under increasing pressure.

The rumors gained traction after Okraku’s recent trip to Germany. However, in a statement issued on Tuesday, the GFA clarified that the visit was solely for discussions with representatives of Puma, the Black Stars’ long-time official kit sponsor, to explore areas of mutual interest and strengthen their partnership.

“The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has taken note of false reports being circulated that the Association has met a German coach and is negotiating remuneration with him. The Association wishes to state clearly that the reports are entirely false,” the statement read.

“We respectfully urge the media and the general public to disregard these unfounded rumours and refrain from spreading them,” it added.

The Black Stars will return to action this month with crucial must-win matches against Angola and Niger, as Ghana fights to secure qualification, despite slim chances. Sudan only needs a draw from their remaining two games to secure their spot.

Press Statement: Media Reports on GFA Meeting with German Coach for Black Stars Untrue

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has taken note of false reports being circulated that the Association has met a German coach and is negotiating remuneration with him.

The Association wishes to state clearly that the reports are entirely false.

The GFA President did not meet with any coach during his recent trip to Germany. The purpose of his visit was to engage with representatives of Puma, the long-standing official kit sponsor of the Black Stars, to discuss matters of mutual interest and strengthen our partnership; a story to this effect has been published on the GFA website and other media platforms.

We respectfully urge the media and the general public to disregard these unfounded rumours and refrain from spreading them.

For accurate information and official updates, please refer to the GFA’s website and verified social media platforms, or contact the GFA.
