Bibiani Goldstars FC secured their place in the next round of the Ghana FA Cup with a commanding 2-0 victory over FC Samartex 1996 at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena on Saturday.
Defender Michael Nkoah was the hero of the day, delivering a standout performance by scoring both goals in a match that highlighted Goldstars’ quality and determination.
The Miners wasted no time asserting themselves, with Nkoah opening the scoring in the 4th minute. His composed finish not only gave Goldstars an early lead but also disrupted the flow of Samartex, the reigning Premier League champions.
Despite enjoying spells of possession, Samartex struggled to break down Goldstars’ organized and resolute defense.
The defining moment came early in the second half when Nkoah struck again with a spectacular effort that left Samartex’s goalkeeper helpless. The goal sealed the game and extinguished any hopes Samartex had of mounting a comeback.
Goldstars’ dominant performance reflects their ambition this season, as they currently sit atop the Ghana Premier League table while also making strides in the FA Cup. Their statement victory underscores their intent to chase success on all fronts.
