Dutch defender Jeremie Frimpong, who has Ghanaian roots, played a crucial role in Bayer Leverkusen’s 2-0 win against Sparta Prague on Wednesday night, providing a key assist.

The highly-rated full-back, known for his ability to play in advanced positions, was named in the starting lineup and delivered an impressive performance.

In the 32nd minute, Frimpong showcased his attacking prowess by setting up Florian Wirtz with a well-placed pass. The German midfielder made no mistake, striking a first-time shot that found the back of the net, giving Leverkusen a 1-0 lead at halftime.

After the break, the German champions continued to dominate the game and extended their lead in the 64th minute. Nigerian forward Nathan Tella capitalized on a rebound, slotting the ball home to make it 2-0 for the hosts.

Despite Sparta Prague’s determined efforts to get back into the game, they struggled to break through Leverkusen’s defense and ultimately suffered a 2-0 defeat at full-time.

Frimpong played 88 minutes before being substituted for Arthur. Although he is yet to score in the UEFA Champions League this season, he has been an important contributor, having already netted five goals in eight appearances.

His impressive form continues to strengthen Bayer Leverkusen’s push for success in both domestic and European competitions.
