Former Ghana international Sulley Ali Muntari has advised rising star Ernest Nuamah to stay at Olympique Lyonnais for at least another season, despite mounting interest from top European clubs.

Nuamah, 20, joined Lyon from Danish side FC Nordsjaelland and has enjoyed an impressive debut season in Ligue 1. Before sustaining an injury, the Ghanaian winger had made 33 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals and registering two assists, becoming a key player in Lyon’s attacking setup.

Speaking to AfricaFoot, Muntari praised Nuamah’s skillset and mental strength, describing him as one of Ghana’s brightest young talents.

“Ernest is a player of pure talent. He’s elusive with the ball at his feet, excellent in one-on-one situations, and capable of creating danger at any moment,” Muntari said. “He’s a true defensive dynamite with a remarkable mentality. Despite his injury, he’s attracting interest because people know he’ll return even stronger.”

The former AC Milan and Inter Milan midfielder stressed the importance of patience and development, urging Nuamah to avoid rushing into a big transfer too soon.

“I believe he still needs to grow at Olympique Lyonnais before aiming higher. He’s still young, playing regularly, and in an environment that supports his development. One more season at Lyon could help him reach a new level before making the jump to a more prestigious club,” Muntari added.

Nuamah, a product of Ghana’s Right to Dream Academy, is reportedly being tracked by several Premier League sides, including Fulham, Everton, and Crystal Palace. However, Muntari believes a continued stay at Lyon would best serve the youngster’s long-term growth and career trajectory.
