Karim Zito has lifted the mood in the Asante Kotoko camp after providing a positive update on the club’s injury situation ahead of their upcoming Ghana Premier League clash with Dreams FC.
The Kotoko head coach revealed that several injured players are gradually returning to fitness, a development that has strengthened the squad and given the technical team more options ahead of Sunday’s fixture.
Zito was quick to credit the club’s medical team for their efforts in accelerating the recovery process of the injured players.
“The players are gradually recovering, and that is a big plus for the technical team and especially for the medical department,” Zito told Asante Kotoko TV. “They are doing their best to get the players back fit.”
He also highlighted how recent challenges have created opportunities for other players to step up, citing Lawson’s performance as a positive example.
“Sometimes when you look at the bench, you don’t have the options you want, and that has been a problem lately,” he said. “But it gave me the chance to use Lawson, and I was impressed with his attitude. He showed no weakness and proved that he can play.”
Zito added that the situation has ultimately expanded his choices within the squad, turning a difficult period into a positive one.
“It has given me more options in the team. So far, so good. We are working,” he concluded.
Asante Kotoko will host Dreams FC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday, December 14, with kickoff scheduled for 3:00 pm.
