Ghanaian football icon Asamoah Gyan has reflected on his remarkable legacy at the FIFA World Cup, expressing gratitude for his historic achievement while encouraging upcoming players to surpass his milestone.
The former Ghana national football team captain remains Africa’s all-time leading scorer at the World Cup, with six goals — a record that has stood firm since his final appearance on football’s biggest stage. “For me, records are set to be broken. So, personally, I count myself lucky to be at that level, to score six goals in World Cup history. The only African to score six goals in World Cup history,” he said.

“And yes, the record is there to be broken. So I wish this new generation well, to perform so well. One might come up and break the record,” he added.
