Vice president of the Ghana Football Association, Mark Addo, has challenged the Black Princesses to make history at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup after successfully qualifying for the tournament in Poland.
The Black Princesses secured their place at the global competition after edging Uganda 3-2 on aggregate in the final round of the qualifiers.
Ghana confirmed qualification with a 1-1 draw in Kampala, extending the nation’s impressive record in women’s youth football.
Speaking to the team upon their arrival in Accra, Addo commended the players for reaching an eighth straight FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
“This team has done remarkably well by qualifying for eight consecutive World Cups. Now is the time to go and perform, and to go beyond the group stage,” he said.
He also assured the squad of continuous backing from both the government and the Football Association as preparations begin for the tournament.
“Take time to enjoy this moment for a few days, but the real work begins now, ahead of September when the World Cup starts,” he added.
The Black Princesses have maintained a flawless qualification record for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup since 2010.
Ghana has participated in the 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2022 and 2024 editions of the competition, but the team has yet to advance beyond the group phase.
The 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup is scheduled to take place in Poland from September 5 to 27.
