Hearts of Oak produced a commanding performance at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, defeating newly crowned champions Medeama SC 4–2 in a thrilling final-day Ghana Premier League encounter.
Hearts of Oak wrapped up their 2025/26 campaign in impressive fashion, securing third place on the league table after overpowering the champions in a six-goal contest filled with attacking flair and defensive lapses.
The Phobians made a fast start, taking the lead in the fourth minute through Hamza Issah, who opened the scoring to set the tone for an energetic display from the home side.
Mawuli Wayo doubled the advantage for Hearts of Oak in the 57th minute with a composed finish, giving the hosts full control of the game.
Medeama SC, however, responded through Kingsley Braye, who pulled one back to reduce the deficit and briefly revived hopes for the visitors.
Hearts of Oak restored their two-goal cushion when Medeama defender Jacob Amu Mensah unfortunately turned the ball into his own net, making it 3–1 for the home side.
Hamza Issah then struck again, heading in Hearts’ fourth goal to put the result beyond doubt and complete a dominant attacking performance.
Although Medeama managed a late consolation goal, the champions were unable to overturn Hearts’ strong display as the Accra-based side comfortably saw out the match.
The victory ensured Hearts of Oak finished the season on a positive note, while Medeama SC concluded their title-winning campaign with a spirited but unsuccessful final-day outing.
