Asante Kotoko have announced plans for a significant rebuilding process following a disappointing 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season that ended with the club finishing eighth on the table.
In an official statement released on Monday, May 25, 2026, the Kumasi giants admitted that their performance this season failed to meet the standards associated with the club’s rich history and ambitions.
According to the club, the outcome does not reflect Kotoko’s stature in Ghanaian football, prompting management to begin taking decisive measures aimed at restoring the team’s competitiveness.
While acknowledging that setbacks are part of football, the Porcupine Warriors stressed that urgent action would be taken to return the club to its traditional position among the country’s elite sides.
Despite the difficult campaign, the club expressed appreciation to supporters across the country for their unwavering loyalty and support throughout the season. Management described the fans as the backbone of the club and apologised for the frustration and inconsistency witnessed on the pitch.
Kotoko further assured supporters that a comprehensive rebuilding exercise is already underway, with the long-term objective of reclaiming domestic dominance and re-establishing the club as a strong force in African club football.
The statement concluded with a call for unity, patience and continued support, insisting that lessons learned from the disappointing season would guide future decisions and improvements.
