Former Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Frederick Asare says he has no regrets about missing out on Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting the players selected deserved their places.
The Durban City FC shot-stopper, who made four appearances in South Africa during the 2025/26 season, said he respects the decisions taken by the Black Stars technical team.
“I wasn’t worried about missing the World Cup call-up because I feel those who got in deserve it more,” Asare told Nhyira FM.
The former Kotoko goalkeeper also reserved praise for Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, highlighting the qualities that have made him one of the country’s top performers.
“Benjamin Asare’s strengths are his aerial ability and calmness in post,” he said.
Despite missing out on the tournament in North America, Asare remains optimistic about his future with the national team and believes consistent performances at club level will earn him another opportunity with the Black Stars.
The goalkeeper stressed the importance of patience, hard work and dedication as he continues his quest to return to the national team setup.
