Ghana international Brandon Thomas-Asante has expressed his ambition to establish himself among the Premier League’s top performers after playing a key role in Coventry City’s promotion-winning 2025/26 Championship campaign.
The 27-year-old forward enjoyed an impressive season, scoring 13 goals and providing four assists in 32 league appearances as Coventry clinched the Championship title and secured their return to England’s top flight.
Speaking to ESPN, Thomas-Asante described the achievement as the result of years of patience, persistence, and belief in his ability to reach the highest level.
“They say that sometimes it takes a long time for things to happen overnight,” he said.
“It’s definitely a case of holding out and holding out, pushing, pushing. I’m grateful to God that the breakthrough has happened — to be in the Premier League now, which is where I’ve always wanted to be, and believed I could be.”
Despite fulfilling a major career milestone, the Ghanaian striker insists he is not satisfied with simply reaching the Premier League, setting his sights on excelling at the highest level.
“The intention is not just to be in the Premier League,” he continued. “It’s to be top of the Premier League and to be the best.”
Thomas-Asante also believes his international experience with Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup has helped prepare him for the demands of elite competition.
“But I already have the opportunity to do that now, because I get to be on the pitch at the World Cup. I want to prove that I belong at the top of world football.”
The striker featured twice for the Black Stars at the tournament, registering one assist as Ghana reached the Round of 32 before being eliminated by Colombia.
Now heading into his first Premier League season, Thomas-Asante will look to carry his Championship form into England’s top division as he aims to establish himself as one of the league’s standout attacking talents.
